Visiting BIEMH, International Machine-Tool Exhibition, will not be just attending a trade fair: scheduled to take place from May 28 to June 2, it will be the best chance to get close to Spanish companies, which are specialised in high-performance and customised machinery.

26 editions of experience and an ongoing technology research and development in machine-tools make Spanish manufacturers and it’s most representative fair, BIEMH, a reliable reference in sectors such as railway industry, aerospace, automotive industry and wind energy in several countries.

In fact, 85% of the manufacturers in Spain are based in the Basque Country region, within an 80 km radius of Bilbao Exhibition Centre, where all these types of machinery will be on show at the exhibition. To complete this, visits to the production plants will be organised with the co-operation of AFM, the Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Association of Spain, and SPRI, the Basque Development Agency.

Manufacturers will predominate in BIEMH: over 60% of the exhibitors that have already signed up for it are manufacturers of machines, tools and accessories. In total, 1097 firms from 25 countries have confirmed their participation in the event, among them DANOBAT GROUP, JUARISTI, CMZ, IBARMIA, GORATU, LAGUN MACHINERY, TORNOS GURUTZPE, NICOLAS CORREA, CMI AERONÁUTICA, ONA ELECTROEROSIÓN, ONA PRESS, BOST MACHINE TOOLS COMPANY, COUTH, COMETEL, DIPER DISEÑO Y PERFILADO, FAGOR ARRASATE, FAGOR AUTOMATION, FERG, FRESMAK, GER MÁQUINA-HERRAMIENTA, GOITI, GORATU, INTEGI, INTZA WOERNER, KENDU, KONDIA, KORTA, LANTEK, MADAULA, MAQUINARIA GEKA, SIERRAS SABI, SORALUCE, TALLERES ALJU, MEBUSA, TECNIFUELLE, TECOI CORTE, TRIMEK, ZAYER.... On the international level ADIGE, AMOB MAQUINAS E FERRAMENTAS, BLM, CYTEC SYSTEMS, DMG, DURMAZLAR MAKINA, HAAS AUTOMATION EUROPE, HITACHI TOOL ENGINEERING, FLADDER DANMARK, YAMAZAKI MAZAK, SALVAGNINI ITALIA, SCHULER PRESSEN and TRUMPF will take part among others.

These data are taken from the situation report of the main facts and figures for the campaigns to attract exhibitors & visitors and for communication submitted to the meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee. The floor plans with the sectoral display of BIEMH were also presented there.

To date, the sectors that have reserved most space are cutting machine-tools (35%), metal forming machine-tools (20%), tool companies (10%) and accessory companies (8%). The remaining sectors have also achieved significant bookings: electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, metrology, control and CAD/CAM/CAE equipment and other machinery and equipment.

The campaign to attract visitors is going well, with over 36,000 trade specialists having expressed an interest in attending the event, including representatives of the most strategic sectors. The preview of the programme includes the events organised by ASPROMEC (Association of Professionals for the Competitiveness of Mechanization) and MAFEX (Spanish Railway Materials Association). ASPROMEC is to present its "Study of the Competitiveness of the Mechanization Industry in Spain (AVIVA project)” and will also host a seminar on the main problems currently facing the machining industry and a think-tank session. MAFEX is to host a “Seminar on Railway Business Opportunities in Chile and Peru”, focussing on the extensive development of this sector in both of these countries and the resulting business opportunities.
