Leading manufacturers, importers and distributors are to take part in BIEMH, that has exceeded expectations in view of the sector’s situation
SECTOR’S LEADING EVENT
BRINGS TOGETHER OVER 1000 FIRMS
On May 31 – June 5 the 26th BIEMH International Machine-tool Exhibition will be held at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, bringing together over 1000 exhibitors.
In all, 1037 international manufacturers, importers and distributors have confirmed their presence at the event, thus ensuring that it will be a sound, representative showcase for the products and services of the sector. They include major names such as ABB, BLM, CMZ Machinery Group, Curvaser, Danobat, DMG, Durmazlar-Mahenor, Fagor, Fanuc, Fresmak, Goiti, Goratu, Gurutzpe, Ibarmia, Intermaher, Kuka, Lincoln, Lomusa, Mori Seiki, Nicolás Correa, Ona, Sariki, Tornos, Trumph, Unceta, Zayer and many others whose presence adds weight to the event at a complex, difficult time for the sector, in spite of the signs of recovery that are beginning to be seen.
Its consolidated profile at home and abroad makes this one of Europe’s leading events in its field. This year’s BIEMH should be seen as a strategic forum: with foreign firms making up 40% of the total so far, it offers the chance to make contact with customers and suppliers, identify potential sellers and purchasers, analyse opportunities for exports and imports, check out the latest advances in the sector and close deals.
Germany and Italy, the benchmark countries for the world’s machine-tool industry, have a prominent role to play at the event, which will also feature firms from Argentina, Austria, Belgium, South Korea, China, Denmark, Slovakia, the USA, France, the Netherlands, India, Israel, Japan, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and Turkey.
The subsectors occupying most space at the event will be cutting machine-tools and forming machine-tools (accounting for 28% and 24% of the total, respectively). The other areas represented are tools, metrology and CAD/CAM, handling and robotics, welding, accessories, services, electronic equipment, other machinery and hydraulic & pneumatic equipment.
FOREIGN PURCHASERS TARGETED:
IN CAMPAIGN TO ATTRACT VISITORS
With 5 weeks still to go before the event opens, over 44,500 trade specialists have registered for the BIEMH, in response to the campaign to attract visitors targeted at agents, institutions and associations in the automotive, aeronautical, railway, renewable energy sources and capital goods industries. Confirmations have also begun to arrive from delegations of purchasers based in China, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Hungary, the Ukraine and Israel.
Brazil, Mexico, the USA, Canada, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, China and India were identified as priority targets for the campaign to attract visitors to this year’s BIEMH. The event organisers have focused their promotional efforts on these markets, with direct action on various fronts (trips, advertising campaigns, telemarketing, etc.) aimed at specialists with high purchasing power. At home, the main regions targeted have been the Basque Country itself, the Eastern Seaboard, Catalonia and Madrid.
Apart from these specifically targeted efforts, work to attract visitors in general has featured direct marketing (large-scale fax and e-mail shots, publication of newsletters, etc.) aimed at a list of potential customers that includes over 70,000 addresses at home and abroad.
Visitors to the BIEMH can organise their time at the event easily via the website: the "Search for Exhibitors" section this year offers a range of new applications for consulting and structuring information in many different ways.
